ABOUT US

‘Two Guys Walk Into A Bar’ is an acoustic/electric duo and full band specializing in Texas-style roots music, red dirt and Americana tunes. We play originals from our first album (and from the second which is currently being recorded), along with a mix of well-curated cover tunes. The duo is Pete Gargiulo on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, and Mike Terry on electric guitar and back-up vocals. Our crack rhythm section consists of Mike Prichard on bass and Steve Pierce on drums. Our approach is to bring a good time and engage the audience. We bring a big sound with good harmonies that can fill a large room or outdoor space.

We play numerous bars and clubs around the DFW metroplex, including: Woodshed BBQ, Second Rodeo Brewery, Fort Brewery, Truckyard Ft Worth, Truckyard Dallas and Colony, Rustic Dallas, Fred’s TX Café and many others. We also spent many great nights at Lola’s and Twilite, Post and other late and lamented music venues that are no longer with us. We also play private parties and fund-raisers. Our expansive song-list enables us to tailor our song selection to the style of each venue.

We have played professionally for many years.

HISTORY

Pete and Mike met and started collaborating in The Swags, a 5-piece band that rocked the metroplex from 2011 through 2017, playing clubs across DFW and occasionally the gulf coast. It was a legendary band that ultimately succumbed to an all-too-familiar story. Once they tasted success, things got out of hand with the money, the women and, let’s say, ‘high consumption’. It got to the point that band members demanded separate limos to get to the gigs. It all culminated one night in a haze of blue smoke, blown speakers and smashed guitars following the final gig. As the smoke cleared, five limos stood in shambles, having been smashed into one another until they blew apart in a massive mushroom cloud that hung over the Fort Worth cultural district for days.

In the aftermath, with hundreds of thousands of dollars missing, they all went their separate ways, communicating only through lawyers and the press.

Pete and Mike –
The Lost Years

At this point the story gets a little hazy. Pete disappeared. There were occasional reports of sightings in different places: was that him busking in the underground in London? Was that him partying with Elon Musk on Ibiza? Was he actually in Witness Protection as one rumor had it? Or was he the ‘Crypto King’ to quote another popular account, pioneering a questionable new currency? Was he still lighting his cigars with $100 bills? Questions abounded, and frankly, are likely to remain unanswered. Mike also vanished from view. Although he was allegedly spotted on the west coast of Mexico, catching the surf, and according to some sources, traveling up and down the coast with a convoy of heavily-armed security and a posse of dark haired super-models. Other than the occasional paparazzi snap of him partying on a super-yacht, he stayed pretty much out of sight.

To quote the Texas legend Townes Van Zandt, ‘Where he got the bread to go, there ain’t nobody knows’.

RETURN TO ACTION

Details are unclear, but sometime in 2020 Pete and Mike re-emerged back in the states. According to some accounts, Pete was allowed back in the US with the promise never to set foot in New Jersey again, but won’t say why. Mike, it is alleged, got crossways with the Sinaloa Cartel and beat a hasty retreat back to Texas.

The bad news was that both had apparently spent everything they had and came back in desperate need of money to maintain the extravagant lifestyles to which they had become accustomed. But the good news is that they reconciled and picked up their guitars once again. As Pete put it at the re-union press conference, ‘We’ve found a common cause to re-unite: your money!’

And with that, they resumed their career as ‘Two Guys Walk Into A Bar’, and are playing venues across north Texas again. You don’t want to miss them this time around!
